The closing ceremony of the Al-Quds Competition for Memorising and Reciting the Holy Qur’an - the sixth season, took place at Al-Quds University Abu Dis in Jerusalem. The event was held under the auspices of the Qudsona Endowment Foundation and the Islamic Public Endowment Administration and was attended by distinguished guests including Munib Rashid Al-Masry, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al-Quds Fund and Endowment, and Dr. Hassan Dweik, Vice President of Al-Quds University.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the Palestinian national anthem. Sheikh Najeh Bakirat, the Director General of the competition, delivered a speech expressing his warm welcome to all attendees. He emphasised the competition's goal of nurturing a generation capable of shaping the future of the Palestinian cause, which is currently threatened by both external and internal factors.

Sheikh Bakirat highlighted the significance of the competition in countering those who disregard the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. He also stressed the importance of establishing centres for Qur’an memorisation in every part of Palestine.

Dr. Hassan Dweik expressed Al-Quds University's pride in the participants who had memorized the Holy Qur’an and achieved success in the competition. He pointed out that Al-Quds University has two faculties dedicated to the study of the Holy Qur’an, and that memorising the Qur’an is an integral part of the curriculum in these faculties.

Dweik emphasised that the act of memorising the Holy Qur’an provides a strong drive to confront the occupation practices in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.

Munib Rashid Al-Masri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jerusalem Fund and Endowment, extended his congratulations to the winners of the competition and their families. He emphasised that the mission of the Jerusalem endowment is to preserve Jerusalem's institutions and support the
development of its youth in various aspects of life.

Al-Masri also highlighted the close relationship between the Qudsona Foundation and the Islamic Waqf in Jerusalem, emphasising the importance of the ceremony in serving the Holy City and its people. He acknowledged the significant number of participants from various Palestinian towns and cities, underlining the need for continued support for this activity.

Furthermore, Al-Masri emphasised the importance of institutions that support religious activities, as they play a crucial role in instilling religious, Islamic, and moral values among young people. He pointed out that the Jerusalem competition is a comprehensive event that brings together Palestinians from all walks of life, with approximately 250-350 participants representing various Palestinian cities.

In his closing speech, Al-Masri mentioned an upcoming meeting of secretaries-general in Cairo, urging the participants to work towards ending division and achieving unity, with the aim of producing positive results.

The ceremony concluded with a special recognition for the winners of the competition, who had excelled in reciting various sections of the Holy Qur’an and chanting meaningful Islamic chants also known as Nasheeds.
